End
of Season News
The 2009-2010 PLGA season has ended with
tournaments, luncheons and lots of winners! Before we get to those, note that the New 2010-2011 season has already begun
and its not to late to join the fun! Dues of $25 are due as of now, and must be paid before you can play on Wednesdays.
If you are interested in joining for the FIRST time, take a check made out to PLGA to the Pro Shop and they'll help you get
started. Or, call any of the officers listed below. We'd love to have you!
The Plantation Challenge Cup Team captains
Peg Gannon and Judy Nelson are smiling in this picture because they're holding 1st Place trophies for Low Net!! The team
also finished only 9 points out of first for Low Gross. Also pictured are: Patty Briscoe, Marilyn Gilbert,
Gail Brych, Jan Arnold, Luanne Kerkhoff, Joan Morgan, MaryLee Kelso, Cheri Cate, Linda Dorsey, and Barb Cline. Missing
from the picture are Mei Wan, Dee Campbell, and Teresa Willman. Way to go Plantation
!!
The Closing Scramble celebrated the end of
the season with a match won by MaryLee Kelso, Joyce Kelly, Joan Morgan, and Janice Darnley. A Strawberry Festival planned
by Lenore Nardini included lunch from Plantation Oaks and Lenore's own strawberry preserves for all! Gifts were
given to the club champion, to outgoing president Lassie Pelick, and to Judy Nelson for the most birdies for the season.
Last, but definitely not least, we give a
big CONGRATULATIONS to Luanne Kerkhoff, the PRGC Club Champion. We're proud to have a PLGA member in that spot, and
Luanne continues to hold on to the title! In the same tournament, Mary Bartley won the B Flight championship and winner
in C Flight was Marilyn Gilbert.
Summer brings longer rough, wetter marshes,
humidity and sunburn. Keep cool, wear sunscreen, try a hybrid out of the rough and see you on the course!

WEDNESDAY PLAY DAY
Check the date and game in the ladies lounge and circle your name by
Sunday a.m. to sign up for Wednesday play. Check the outside bulletin board on
Monday p.m. for your playing partners and starting hole. All regular Wednesday
games have an 8 a.m. shotgun start unless otherwise noted. Meet at the
staging area west of the pro shop (toward the practice range) by 7:40 and line up with your team.
Pay at the staging area: $3
for the game and (optional games) $1 each for skins and closest to the pin. Prize
money and closest to the pin winnings are put “on the books” to be spent in the pro shop. Skins are paid out in cash.
BIRDIES
On Wednesday, during league play, circle any birdies made on your score
card. If this is your first birdie as a member of the PLGA, you will receive
a birdie pin at the awards ceremony after the Closing Scramble luncheon in April. The
player with the most birdies for the season receives an award. Wednesday eagles
receive a pin also.
HOLE-IN-ONE CLUB
A $5 check payable to PLGA and turned in to the Pro Shop makes you a
member. Any day you make a hole in one on Otter Creek (with witnesses) you receive
a dollar for each paid up member of the club. Check the lounge bulletin board
to see if you owe another $5.
2 CLUB
Buy a $5 “2” pin from Linda Dorsey, and display it on your
shirt, hat, bag, or whatever. When you make a 2 on any hole, other members of
the club playing with you will pay you $1 each. Of course, you will owe a dollar
to any member who makes a 2 while you are playing with them.

in the lounge as they arrive. Cost (usually $40-$50) covers breakfast, golf,
cart, lunch, favors and prizes. It is usually a team game. These are lots of fun and are open to all members of our PLGA, regardless of handicap.
OTHER
We will host an Invitational in April (may be every other year), and
Par Tee in April. You can be involved with planning these and other club events by calling the chairman of the event, the
president, or the new member chairman. They’ll help you get started.
Special tournaments include: President’s
Cup, Member/Member, Member/Guest, and Club Championship. All members are eligible
to play in all tournaments. Also, each year we play a tournament with the
lady 9 hole golfers and take turns hosting it alternate years.
Watch the sign up boards in the lounge
and at the Pro Shop desk.
And please do not hesitate to ask any of the officers if you have a question
about anything!
