Getting Better…
Progress in
golf comes in peaks and valleys. One day you’ll peak and shoot a “career round. The next day, or the day after,
you’ll play about as dismal a round as you could ever imagine. That’s why the Scottish philosopher described it
as an “umblin” game. The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat go hand in hand… and that’s what
makes golf the exasperating and fascinating game that it is.
Since it seems
we have more bad days, than good, it’s best to remember what I said about peaks and valleys. Just continue to work on
fundamentals and your stroke-saving shots and in time, you will come gradually to recognize that your peaks are getting higher
and more frequent and your valleys are beginning to fill in.
Do you need help?
If you play poorly one day forget it.
If you play poorly the next time out, review your fundamentals of
grip, stance, aim and ball position. Most mistakes are made before the club is swung.
If you play poorly for a third time in a row, go see your professional.

Just a reminder –
1. Drink plenty of liquids – water, Gatorade
2. Stay away from alcoholic beverages in the heat of the day.
3. Watch the storms – lightning is deadly – a rain check is better than taking a chance
with Mother Nature.

GOLF COURSE CARE
The Plantation Residents Golf
Club (PRGC) believes that all members and guests of The Plantation
at Leesburg golf courses have a responsibility to maintain our golf courses in such a condition so that all golfers will enjoy
them and be proud of them.
DIVOTS: Sand all divots on the fairways, tees
and in the rough.
BALLMARKS: Fix all ball marks on the greens.
PINS: When removing the pin from the cup, gently
lay the pin on the green. Pins that are thrown or dropped can damage the green surface.
SAND TRAPS: Rake all sand traps after using.
Place the rakes in the trap.
CUPS: Never remove the ball with a putter head.
Be very careful with suction cup style.
TEES: Use Tee container Boxes for all broken and non-broken tees, Tees cause major damage
to the grass mowers.
CARTS: Follow all cart signs, honor all roped
off areas and when entering and exiting cart paths drive on the least worn area. Enter or exit to one side or the other before
the end of the path to spread out Traffic. Drive the Fairways when Over Seeding is established, Riding in the Rough is detrimental
to it at this time.
CART PATHS: Drive and park with all four wheels
on the concrete. Honor CART PATH ONLY on Otter Creek holes 10 through 15.
WET SPOTS: Always drive around wet spots.
Be on the lookout after rain.
CIGARETTE BUTTS: Use a Personal Ashtray instead
of the golf course for your butts.
HANDICAP PRIVILEGES: Honor handicap privilege
rules. Report infractions to the Pro Shop.
READY GOLF: Play ready golf. Be ready to hit
when it is your turn. No Hawking Golf Balls.
CONDITIONS: Leave the golf course in better
shape than you found it. Fill an extra divot, and repair an extra ball mark, report hazardous conditions to the Pro Shop.
Most of
all ENJOY your golfing experience at The Plantation Residents Golf Club and Members, remember to Post all your Scores.
Thanks in
advance for your cooperation.

HOW TO THINK ON THE LINKS…
Lee Wilson, PGA Director of Golf/The Plantation Golf
Club
Don’t
hover over your ball – Its not going to hatch?
Here are some key concepts in forming a helpful mental attitude towards golf: Confidence,
Concentration and Relaxation.
CONFIDENCE: The champions seem to glow with it, and it helps
to make them what they are. But, it’s no less important for the amateur. While confidence may not guarantee that every
shot will be your best, without question, a lack of it will undermine your best efforts. Think your best, and more often than
not, you’ll end up doing it.
CONCENTRATION: One of the most fascinating aspects of the game is
that from day to day, and from shot to shot it’s never the same. Changes in the weather and wind direction, not to mention,
changes in your position on the course, make each shot different. To do your best, you must focus not only on the mechanics
of your swing, but also take in the variables of your surroundings.
RELAXATION: By this is meant the ability to remove tension
from your body and mind. As you progress in techniques of hitting a golf ball, you will learn which muscles to tense and to
what degree. What you want to avoid is unnecessary tension, either physical or
mental, because it will destroy your game.
So, clear your mind, relax your body, and enjoy the game . Thanks (Golf For Women / The Beginner’s Guide) LW
