Newsletter Report
From Your Plantation Times Publisher..... Karen Sloan

"Many Hands Make Light Work...." (a Penna. saying)
Did you know that your Plantation Times newsletter is published right here on property?  This means savings to you as homeowners.  The advertising- published ads and ad inserts are an additional savings too!

In 2007 a new system was initiated to publish on property at Hermitage Hall which houses a "super copier" capable of printing double sided, plus collate, fold and staple(in 2008 it was moved to the old Admin. building) .  90% of the news comes via email to palnews@aol.com where it is made available for editing by Mary (The Manor).

Then it goes to the publisher, Karen (Admin. building), who formats the "look" and juggles the articles to fit within the page limitations.

When it's ready to print....it is sent via computer right to the copy machine where Sharon, Trish, Dennis and Barbara, and Karen monitor the printing process:  loading, changing toner and boxing.

When ready, the Maintenance crew delivers them to The Manor where volunteer, Susan Woodruff our resident coordinator/emailer notifies the volunteers.   The "stuffing inserts" volunteer group, consisting of staff and residents for the February issue is shown in the slide-show below.

Linda, at Ashley Hall, maintains the count for distribution to the neighborhoods (based on feedback by residents).  Using this count, the Activities staff and volunteers collate, insert, and bundle them into neighborhoods; then they're picked up by neighborhood delivery volunteers who insert their local news.  Wow....that's a lot of hands!!!

But, that's not all.....
You can help increase the savings by reading it online in "living color!"  Just fill in the form below as instructed.  Check it out...you might just like it!

MANY...MANY THANKS TO ALL WHO HELP TO MAKE THIS POSSIBLE!
If you are interested in helping in this endeavor, please call The Manor Activities office:  326-4133.  They would really appreciate your help.

Plantation Times Collating Volunteers.....
Getting together, having fun,and working hard to get your Plantation Times newsletter delivered.  It's online too!

A Message From Your PRO Board President....Ron Tucker

"Every dollar we save helps the budget bottom line, keeping our monthly contribution to the HOA at its current rate.  There is one problem.  The Times is now much thicker and heavier.  The volunteers that deliver The Times now have to deal with not only the volume and weight, but where to put your Times when you aren’t home.  They don’t fit in, under or through anything in your front entry way.  This makes the volunteers improvise, often subjecting your Times to the weather before you get them.  Please help the volunteers by installing a tasteful basket, mail box, or other ingenious holding device in your entry way to protect your Plantation Times until you get home."

A Tip From Your Plantation Times Editor.....Mary Grace

"Save your daily newspaper bags and donate them to your village delivery person for the PTimes.  This will help weather-proof delivery, and they can be attached to your door handle.  And, it's a way to recycle those bags that would have ended up in the trash."
