ACTIVITIES DEPARTMENT

YOUR JULY REPORT FROM THE DESK OF.......

MARY GRACE/ACTIVITIES DIRECTOR

We are now halfway through the year and well into summer.  Hope all of you are enjoying your lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer, whether near or far.   We are diligently working on the 2008 Olympics as all the paperwork must be completed and ready to go into the August Times.

We had a great Memorial Day Picnic and Dance.  The Pickleball Assoc. did a super job of cooking and serving the ½ pound hamburgers and belly busters and Mulberry Grove volunteers were outstanding in decorating and hosting the dance.   Also, Finesse provided some great dancing music.  I had all positive comments; the one thing I don’t understand is the low number of residents attending.   The cost is $8 for the combination picnic and dance; while most of our dances cost $5, the picnic is only $3.  What a bargain!   Our July 4th picnic is being sponsored by The Plantation Softball Assoc. as a fundraiser and they will be doing all the cooking; included in the meal are baked beans, potato salad, beverage and dessert.  Hidden Oak will host the dance.    Music will be provided by Eddie Shannon, a long time favorite of The Plantation.  Come on out and enjoy spending time with your neighbors and not having that extra expense for gas traveling on the highways.

Once again, Chuck Uhl and his committee provided the Plantation residents with another wonderful program at the Memorial Park.  Every year has been a huge success and yet, he still continues to out-do himself by always providing us with a very memorable day.   Thanks Chuck!   If anyone is interested in seeing a DVD of the program, it is scheduled for Monday, July 7th at 7 p.m. in Ashley Hall, Room 2.

We received rave reviews on the June performance by The Lake Concert Band and hope we can get them back again in the fall when our travelers return home to The Plantation.

See you all at breakfast poolside on Thursday, July 24th.   Do you think we’ll have RAIN?   Enjoy your lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer!
