PLANTATION RESIDENTS’ ORGANIZATION
RECOMMENDATION FOR DISSOLUTION
The Plantation Residents’ Organization (PRO) Board has, by majority vote, recommended to the members that the
PRO Corporation file for dissolution.
RESOLVED: The Plantation Residents’ Organization Board is authorized
to file Articles of Dissolution with the state of Florida. The effective date
of dissolution will be April 30, 2010.
A majority of the PRO Board believe that the objectives of the PRO, as stated in the Articles of Incorporation (filed
June 9, 1989) have been fulfilled. Full responsibility and authority for the
management and operation of the Plantation at Leesburg lies with the HOA and the HOA Board of Directors, as specified by Florida
statute, Chapter 720. Voting on the action will take place at a special meeting,
Tuesday March 9 at the Manor at 5 p.m. Members may also vote by proxy.
Voting will be as defined by the PRO By-laws: one vote per residence. The resolution can be approved by a majority vote of those voting present and by proxy.
Members who wish to vote by PROXY should use the following form. It may
be dropped off at any recreation center, the administrative office, or may be assigned to another voting member.

MINUTES OF PRO/HOA MEETING
FEBRUARY 5, 2010
Attendees: Dennis Latiak, Ron Tucker, Troy Wilson, Jeri Fiset, Karen Smith, Elaine Butler, Ken
Meehan, Mike Langley, Leonard Tooke
Q: Why was a resident turned away by the Choral Society on the basis of not being a full
time resident?
A: The resident should not have been denied solely on this parameter. Choral Society by-laws specify that any singer who is a resident of The Plantation at Leesburg is eligible
to be a member. Each singer must meet with the Chorus Director who will determine
membership and, if accepted, will place him/her in the proper section. Membership
numbers are determined by the physical space available for practice and performances.
Each
member is expected to make every effort to attend rehearsals and to participate in all performances. Each member is expected to demonstrate performance readiness, both vocally and visually, to the satisfaction
of the Chorus Director, before participating in Chorus performances. Concert
dress codes and other instructions will be issued to the Chorus members as required.
It is suggested that the resident call the director, Merlyn Wilson (787-2696) and arrange a meeting for audition. There are still a significant number of rehearsals prior to the April Spring Concert.
Q: Why are residents required to pay for events such as the Christmas Choral Concert?
A: The sponsors of each event determine the charge for attendance. The money is commonly used to pay expenses (such as the purchase of music or stage props), to upgrade facilities
(such as the new stage lights or the practice piano) or is sometimes donated to the HOA to become part of the expansion fund.

BY-LAWS OF PLANTATION
RESIDENTS ORGANIZATION, INC.
PRO BOARD BYLAWS REVISED 2009
If you have questions or concerns that you want to submit to the PRO Board, please fill in the form below and it will
be sent directly to them.
Introduction to The PRO Board
The Board of Directors of The Plantation Residents Organization, PRO Board,
is composed of nine members. They are all volunteers, elected by members of the community. Three members are elected each
year for a three year term. There are four offices on the board; The President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.
The Board meets the 1st Monday of each month in Hermitage Hall at 7 PM. All
members of the community are invited to attend and participate.
Letters and written comments to the Board may be left at the Activities Office
in The Manor. (Letters and written comments are acknowledged only if signed). Opportunity is presented at each Board meeting
for residents to speak to issues of interest. All comments by those in attendance are welcomed and recorded.
Following the monthly meeting, the Board meets with the management
to discuss appropriate issues that have been presented and/or discussed. Minutes of the monthly meeting along with a summary
of the meeting with the developer are posted at the postal center bulletin board, on this web site, and reviewed at the next
Board meeting.
This organization, incorporated in 1989, is open to all homeowners. This
is YOUR organization and YOUR voice in the community.
The Plantation Residents Organization (PRO) meets annually (April) to elect
members to the Board, to review past year activities and to discuss any pertinent issues.
The PRO Board By-Laws are available for review at bottom of this page.
The PRO Board Mission Statement
"The purpose of the Board is to represent all homeowners for the welfare
of all, to interact and counsel management in a mutually beneficial way, to disseminate information and assure smooth operation,
maintenance and governance of The Plantation."

PRO BOARD VALUE
Issue Resolution: The PRO Board offers residents a monthly opportunity
to raise an issue or concern, have it publicly debated and carried to the proper level for resolution. The HOA board and manager
know that the issue has been publicly posted, that interested parties are aware, and have the opportunity to step forward
in the discussion, and that PRO Board members will also examine the issue and offer opinion. Finally, resolution or response
will be publicly posted. The minutes of these meetings are widely read.
Efficiency: PRO Board meetings with the HOA manager and
Board have historically resulted in the addressing of six to ten issues in a half hour monthly meeting. This frees up management
and staff time so they can concentrate on value added to residents.
Communications: Numerous topics are communicated via the PRO Board meetings and the posted minutes.
These include Save-a-Life, disaster recovery, programs for the blind, the sheriff’s office, and many more.
Committee Staffing: The PRO Board offers the HOA Board and Manager
a source for advice and study on a variety of topics that arise naturally. Use of the PRO Board provides a set of people who
are experienced in Plantation affairs and who have
proven their willingness to be involved. The fact that PRO Board members are resident-elected adds to their credibility.
External Affairs: The PRO Board is a likely platform for involvement
in many external affairs (county, city, state) when issues affect residents. The HOA, whose duties are defined by Florida law, may not be a preferred platform for some of these
issues.
Meeting Reminders

(on the 2nd
